Blog#1

Here I am

Hi, its me. Who is me? That is a secret. Well it probably won’t take too long for someone to find out but for now lets keep myself in the shadows.

— Oscar Wilde.

There are two things about me that you should know. One, that I am a Christian. Two, I am a really bad one.

Not like, bad, like I don’t care at all but like bad like I don’t really hide my short comings and sometimes I let them define me. So yeah maybe I am a just a bad Christian. Luckily, as Jesus says ” ‘Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners’ ”(Mark 2:15-17)

So… why I am I doing this? One, I think I want a place to voice my opinion. I have always found myself not fitting in to any camps for some issues like reproductive/abortion rights, gun control, same-sex marriage. Heck, I can’t even decided what kind of pancake I like when I go to IHOP. So that’s why I am here, writing this blog, I am using this as a way to rationalize through the craziness of the world and to create peace and order(or at least attempt to). This blog is going to cover probably a variety of topics such as politics, religion, theology, science and faith, education, and so on. My blog is going to take a fast leap foward as I want to start off my blogs with a series of rebutles against a youtuber named WUTText. He had a video and blog criticizing a youtube channel called the Bible Project where he proceeds to launch an ad hominem attack against the channel and the creator, Dr. Tim Mackie. Hopefully, I will study his video “critique” and see what he says needs to be corrected (spoilers, its basically everything he says). Anyways, that series of blogs should be coming out soon. In the meantime, I’ll be working on blogs that discuss some hot topics like why you can be a Christian and believe in evolution or you can be a Christian and be a member of the Democratic Party or why Christian’s should not associate with the Republican Party(I know, spicy). All of this topics have yet to come and I hope God gives me the strength to finish this projects to completion.

“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
